Aamer Azeemi is a Managing Director with Cisco Systems in Bangalore. He leads the Internet of Everything Practice for Asia Pacific, Japan and China as well as Cisco Consulting Services for India. He has played an integral part in setting the ICT Master Plan strategy for multiple Smart Cities in Asia such as Incheon Free Economic Zone in South Korea, Iskandar in Malaysia, GGLC in Philippines, and now leading the effort for four large Greenfield Smart Cities on the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) region in India. Aamer joined Cisco Systems in 2008 prior to which he was the Chief Information Officer at Omniyat Properties, Dubai. He played a vital role in helping Omniyat design their IT strategy for Real Estate. He brings valuable real estate industry experience and passionately enumerates the role of IT in enabling Smart Cities.
He believes that growth, overcrowding, budget constraints and inadequate infrastructure is putting increasing pressure on cities, states and countries. Leaders of global cities and private companies are thinking of ways to improve infrastructure, create scalable systems and processes for economic growth, social development and environmental preservation. His work focuses on the role of technology especially the emergence of the internet of everything where everything is connected, and an IP-network as the underlying platform, will play a significant role in building new cities, managing existing urban and rural communities and delivering citizen services.
Mr. Aamer Azeemi holds a Master of Science degree from Texas A&M University and a Bachelor of Engineering from Osmania University, India. After obtaining his MS degree he spent almost 11 years in the US working with IBM Global Services, SAIC and Freeborders and later led the IT Management Group for Wipro in India.
His passion is to help build smart connected communities run on networked information providing integrated and comprehensive services to citizens wherever they live, work, learn or play.
